The picture shows the "Pottery Model of Boat (replica)" which is a collection of the Guangzhou Museum. The original artifact was excavated from the No. 3 Han tomb on the site of Xianlie Road in Guangzhou in 1955. This type of vessel was designed for long voyages as it was capable of carrying a large load and withstanding stormy seas. The exhibit will be on display along with some 160 cultural relics from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau at the "East Meets West - Cultural Relics from the Pearl River Delta Region" exhibition to introduce the roles that the three cities played in the Sino-Western exchanges over the past 2,000 years. The exhibition will run from tomorrow (September 30) until January 2, 2006 at the Hong Kong Museum of History.
