serve Asian clients

One of the world's leading providers of international health and travel insurance, International Health Insurance danmark A/S (IHI), celebrate the opening of its new Hong Kong office today (September 28).

Currently providing health and travel insurance to 250,000 individual and corporate clients all over the world, IHI's global network covers Latin America, Asia, North Africa and Europe.  With its new office in Hong Kong, the company will be able to reach out to more clients and to serve them better in Asia.

The CEO of IHI, Per Bay JÈûrgensen said, "Hong Kong is an ideal place to invest because of its geographical position. The demand for private medical insurance is rising and we believe there is a great potential for quality products such as ours".

According to Mr JÈûrgensen, IHI specialises in working together with clients in order to maintain or improve their health by providing expert medical advice on the internet.  The company has its own staff of doctors, and also co-operates with a variety of specialists, who provide expert advice through interactive consultation. As this is a new concept to the Asian markets, the company hopes to make use of Hong Kong's leading position as the hub of insurance products and services to drive client awareness in the region.

According to IHI, its future business plan is to penetrate new geographical markets in Asia and increase the company's local establishment in Hong Kong.  Setting up an office in Hong Kong will be an important milestone for its strategic development.

Welcoming IHI's move to set up a new office in Hong Kong, the Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mr Mike Rowse, said, "We warmly welcome International Health Insurance to Hong Kong. With the continuous economic development and opening up of markets in the region, global insurance players have become more excited about Asia than ever. As one of the world's most open insurance markets, Hong Kong plays the role as a key launch pad for new products and services in Asia."

"We believe that the presence of prominent insurance companies like IHI will help reinforce Hong Kong's reputation as a leading insurance centre in Asia.  We look forward to celebrating the further expansion of IHI in Hong Kong in the near future," said Mr Rowse.

Danish table tennis player and world bronze medallist, Michael Maze, attended the opening as a special guest of IHI. He played a short match at the event with the guests.

IHI has specialised in international medical plans for more than 30 years, with services available in more than 190 countries. With over 450 employees, the company has branch and representative offices in Spain, France, Isle of Man, USA, Bolivia, Japan, Mexico and Morocco For more information about IHI, please visit the website at http://www.ihi.com.
