Caritas Medical Centre Developmental Disabilities Unit Fever

    Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) spokesperson made the following announcement today (September 26):

     In the Developmental Disabilities Unit (DDU) of CMC, there are 6 child residents (5 boys, 1 girls, aged 8 to 15) from a single ward presenting with fever since 23 September. Appropriate tests have been conducted for all six child residents and viral test result of 1 child resident is positive for para-influenza virus. All their conditions are stable. They have been transferred to isolation ward for further management.

     CMC Infection Control Team has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre of Health Protection. Infection control measures have been stepped up in DDU. Visiting arrangements remain normal. All other child residents are under close surveillance.

     The DDU of CMC is a long term hostel for the severely mentally handicapped children.
