Japanese star Takarada Akira to share experiences with

    Takarada Akira, the Japanese star in the popular cross-cultural trilogy, "A Night in Hong Kong", "Star of Hong Kong" and "Hong Kong, Tokyo, Honolulu", will make a special appearance next month (October) at the seminar "Another Night in Hong Kong: Hong Kong-Japan Film Exchange in 1950s and 60s".

     The seminar will be at 4.30pm on October 8 at the Cinema of the Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA).

     Takarada will share his experiences working on Hong Kong and Japan co-productions, especially the much cherished "Hong Kong trilogy" with Hong Kong superstar, Lucilla You-min.

     The other guest at the seminar is Mr Law Kar and the host is Ms Mary Wong from the Centre for Humanities Research of Lingnan University. They will discuss the trend of Hong Kong and Japan co-productions in the 1950s and 60s. The seminar will be conducted in Cantonese and Japanese. Admission is free.

     Takarada may also meet audiences at the screenings on October 7 and 8.

     As part of the "Japan-Hong Kong Year 2005", the "Hong Kong and Japan: Early Co-productions" with screenings and seminar, is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, sponsored by the Japan Foundation and supported by Takarada Planning Office.

     The seven films to be shown at the Cinema of the HKFA are the Takarada-You Trilogy, "The Longest Night", "Madame Butterfly", "Blood Will Tell" and "The Lone Swan".
