Works by Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi, Huang Binhong, Gao Jianfu, Xu Beihong, Liu Haisu, Pan Tianshuo, Zhang Daqian, Fu Baoshi, Li Keran, Shi Lu, and many other masters in Chinese painting will be displayed at the Hong Kong Museum of Art from tomorrow (September 23) to January 8, 2006. The exhibition, "Chinese Paintings from the CP Lin Collection", offers visitors the chance to review how the Chinese artists preserved China's pictorial heritage while revitalising it over the past 150 years. Pictured is one of the exhibits, "Crab" by Qi Baishi. The inscription literally translates as "We'll see", a cryptic remark implying "We'll see how much more havoc you can wreak", giving an underlying layer of meaning to the painting.
