(with photo)
********************************************************* Members of the Public are invited to guess the number of stamps in a giant stamp mosaic made by Hongkong Post staff and their families.
The 6.45-metre by 3.97-metre mosaic commemorates the 10th Anniversary of the Post Office Trading Fund.
The artwork is composed of used stamps collected from the staff and 98 postal administrations. The last piece of the mosaic, depicting the General Post Office with gold-foiled stamps, was fitted to the design jointly by the Chief Executive the Honourable Donald Tsang and the Postmaster General, Mr Allan Chiang, at a celebration ceremony on August 30.
To encourage Hong Kong people to share its spirit of creativity, Hongkong Post now invites the public to guess the number of stamps used in the mosaic.
Customers are invited to collect application forms from any post office or submit an electronic entry form on Hongkong Post's website (www.hongkongpost.com). The deadline for the submission will be October 20, 2005. Those with the correct answer or the number closest to the correct answer will be the winners. The grand prize winner will be awarded one souvenir set of crystal post boxes plus Local Standing Order Service Membership with free commemorative and definitive stamps and stamps sheetlets issued in 2006. Another 100 consolation prize winners will be awarded Local Standing Order Service Membership with free commemorative and definitive stamps and stamps sheetlets issued in 2006.
The stamp mosaic is now on display at the Counter Hall, 1/F of the General Post Office.

Unique Features of the Stamp Mosaic:
* The mosaic measures 6.45 metres in width and 3.97 metres in height and is probably the world's largest mosaic of used stamps. Hongkong Post has filed an application to the Guinness Book of World Records in an attempt to gain another entry for Hong Kong.
* It is produced by Hongkong Post's staff and their families. For the first time in Hong Kong, tens of thousands of used stamps donated by staff and overseas Postal Administrations were assembled to outline the skyline of Hong Kong, Asia's World City.
* It took almost a year from design to completion. Over 1,000 Hongkong Post staff and their families participated in fixing the stamps to the mosaic during their spare time. The last piece of the mosaic was inserted jointly by the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang and the Postmaster General, Mr Allan Chiang, at the celebration reception of the 10th Anniversary of the Post Office Trading Fund on August 30, 2005.
* The mosaic demonstrates not only the team spirit and creativity of Hongkong Post, but also the solidarity among Postal Administrations. It also promotes the positive message that communication by posting letters is an effective and warm way to link people and businesses.
