The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (September 20) ordered the temporary closure of a food premises in Kwun Tong for thorough cleansing and disinfection.
The FEHD was informed by the Department of Health of a cluster of food poisoning outbreaks related to King Fok Palace Korean and Japanese Restaurant at Hong Ning Road, Kwun Tong.
"As the food poisoning outbreaks show signs of continuation, there is epidemiological ground to support temporary closure of the food premises for thorough cleansing and disinfection," a spokesman for the department said.
The food premises will remain closed until disinfection is completed to the satisfaction of the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene. It can only be re-opened when the Director is fully satisfied that the immediate health hazard on the premises has been eliminated.
Under the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, the Director is empowered to close expeditiously premises that pose immediate health hazards to the public.
