25 pollution convictions in August

Twenty-five convictions were recorded last month (August) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Twelve of the convictions were under the Noise Control Ordinance, 10 under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, two under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance, and one under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in August was $40,000, assessed against a person who contravened the provisions of a licence.
