
Illegal meat roasting factory in Kowloon City smashed (With

************************************************************ ¡@¡@The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) smashed an illegal meat roasting factory in Kowloon City during a blitz operation today (September 16).
¡@¡@A 57-year-old man, the operator of the food premises, was arrested and charged with operating an unlicensed food factory and failing to keep the premises in a clean condition.
¡@¡@In the blitz operation, FEHD officers found the illegal food business in operation at the rear portion of a premises on the ground floor of 70 Kowloon City Road. The officers seized about 420 kilogrammes of raw and roast meat, together with some roasting paraphernalia.
¡@¡@An FEHD spokesman said the department would continue to take stringent enforcement actions against unlicensed food business to safeguard public health.
¡@¡@"Members of the public who have information on unlicensed food business, should call the department hotline at 2868 0000," he said.
¡@¡@According to the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment, plus a daily fine of $900.
