
Fever Cases in Caritas Medical Centre Developmental
Disabilities Unit
**************************************************** Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) spokesperson made the following announcement today (September 16):
In the Developmental Disabilities Unit (DDU) of CMC, there are 6 child residents (2 boys, 4 girls, aged 7 to 15) had gradually been presented with fever and 4 of them have upper respiratory symptoms since September 10. Viral test result of the 6 child residents were just obtained and were positive for para-influenza virus. Their conditions are stable. They have been transferred to isolation ward for further management.
CMC Infection Control Team has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre of Health Protection. Infection control measures have been stepped up in DDU. Visiting arrangements remain unchanged. All other child residents are under close surveillance.
The DDU of CMC is a long term hostel for the severely mentally handicapped children.
