
Tuen Mun Hospital Methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus
Aureus (MSSA) cases update
******************************************************* The spokesperson for Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) announced the following today (September 15):
TMH had earlier announced that a total of eight new-born babies had been found to be infected with Methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus Aureus (MSSA). The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) has followed up on the health condition of discharged babies of the ward concerned and just traced that one more baby girl had been presented with symptoms of skin infections since September 8, 2005. The baby had returned to TMH for a medical examination. Her condition is stable and hospitalisation is not needed. The bacterial test result is pending. Health advice was provided to the family of the baby and TMH will continue to follow up on her health condition.
This case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the CHP. TMH will continue to monitor the situation of the ward and strictly enforce infection control measures.
