The Secretary for Justice, Ms Elsie Leung, is in Bangkok today and tomorrow (September 15 and 16) to attend the 2nd China and ASEAN Countries Procurators-General Conference.
Attending the conference are delegates from Hong Kong, Macau and Chinese provinces neighbouring Thailand, including Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and Hainan.
Matters relating to the combat of cross-border crimes are among topics to be discussed during the conference.
Ms Leung said she was glad to have the opportunity to discuss with the Attorney General of Thailand the progress of mutual legal agreements.
At present, a Transfer of Sentenced Persons Agreement is in place between the Hong Kong and Thai governments. Discussions regarding a Surrender of Fugitive Agreement and a Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement are continuing.
