LegCo Subcommittee overseas visit

The Legislative Council Subcommittee on West Kowloon Cultural District Development will conduct a six-day overseas duty visit to Bilbao in Spain from 18 to 23 September 2005.
The purpose of the visit is to study the experience in the development and implementation of the Abandoibarra project, in particular its financing, operation and management, with a view to facilitating Subcommittee members’ consideration of the way in taking forward the West Kowloon Cultural District project.
During the visit, the delegation will meet with the Right Honourable Mr Jose Luis BILBAO, President of the Provincial Government of Biscay; Mr Ibon ARESO, First Deputy Mayor of Bilbao City; Mr Javier RIANO, Director of Bilbao Arte; and Mr Juan Ignacio VIDARTE, Director General of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The delegation will also tour Bilbao City, the Abandoibarra area, and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, which is the centrepiece of the Abandoibarra project.
The delegation will be led by Hon Alan LEONG Kah-kit, Chairman of the Subcommittee. Other members include Ir Dr Hon Raymond HO Chung-tai, Hon Margaret NG, Hon Timothy FOK Tsun-ting, and Hon Patrick LAU Sau-shing.
