
Special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island during
Mid-autumn Festival
******************************************************** The Police will implement special traffic arrangements in Causeway Bay, the Peak and beach areas on Hong Kong Island on September 17 to 19 to facilitate the celebration of the Mid-autumn Festival.
Causeway Bay
------------
I. Pedestranisation
Between 4 pm on September 17 and 12.30 am on September 18 and from noon on September 18 to 3 am on September 19, pedestrianisation will be implemented on the following roads:
(a) A section of Lockhart Road east of Cannon Street;
(b) East Point Road, and
(c) A section of Great George Street west of Paterson Street.
II. Road Closures/Traffic Diversions
Between 7 pm on September 17 and 12.30 am on September 18 and from 7 pm on September 18 to 3 am on September 19, the following road closures and traffic diversion will be implemented if necessary.
(a) Sugar Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic;
(b) A section of Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Great George Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic;
(c) A section of Gloucester Road between the ramp leading from Victoria Park Road Flyover and Causeway Road, except northbound traffic from Tai Hang Road Flyover, will be closed to all vehicular traffic;
(d) Westbound Kingston Street between Gloucester Road and Paterson Street will be closed;
(e) Hing Fat Street will be intermittently closed to vehicular traffic except franchised buses and green minibuses; and
(f) The traffic from Victoria Park Road Flyover must turn right to westbound Gloucester Road Service Road.
The following road closures will be implemented if situation warrants:
(a) A section of Cleveland Street between Gloucester Road and Kingston Street;
(b) A section of eastbound Kingston Street between Paterson Street and Inner Gloucester Road, and
(c) A section of Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Inner Gloucester Road.
III. Suspension of carparks
(a) The Hing Fat Street public car park will be suspended except for police vehicles and vehicles bearing special permit issued by the organiser from 5 pm on September 17 to 12.30 am on September 18 and from 5 pm on September 18 to 3 am on September 19; and
(b) Vehicles access to public carparks at Great George Street (including In Square, Park Lane Hotel and Hang Lung Centre) will be prohibited from 7 pm on September 17 to 12.30 am on September 18 and from 7 pm on September 18 to 3 am on September 19. Vehicles parked in these carparks and hotel will not be permitted to leave until the closed roads are re-opened.
IV. Suspension of on-street parking, green minibus stand and bus terminus
(a) The parking meters at Tung Lo Wan Road between King¡¦s Road and Wun Sha Street will be suspended from 5 pm on September 17 to 12.30 am on September 18 and from 4 pm on September 18 to 6 am on September 19; and
(b) The bus terminus and green minibus stand at Park Tower will be suspended from 7 pm on September 17 to 12.30 am on September 18 and from 6 pm on September 18 to 3 am on September 19.
The following taxi, green minibus and public light bus stands will be suspended from 7 pm on September 17 to 12.30 am on September 18 and from 7 pm on September 18 to 3 am on September 19 if situation warrants:
(a) The taxi stand at Paterson Street near Kingston Street;
(b) The taxi stand at Electric Road near Park Tower;
(c) The green minibus stand at Paterson Street near Kingston Street; and
(d) The public light bus stand at Sugar Street.
The following taxi stands will be suspended from 7 pm on September 18 to 3 am on September 19 if situation warrants:
(a) The taxi stand at Lockhart Road near Cannon Street; and
(b) The taxi stand at Ngan Mok Street.
V. Other restrictions
Learner drivers will not be permitted to access the following roads from 7 pm to 11.30 pm on September 17 and 18:
(a) Eastbound Leighton Road;
(b) Tin Lok Land;
(c) Tung Lo Wan Road;
(d) Hing Fat Street;
(e) Electric Road between Wing Hing Street and Yacht Street;
(f) Morrison Hill Road northbound;
(g) Hennessy Road east of Marsh Road;
(h) Tin Hau Temple Road between Fortress Hill Road and Causeway Road; and
(i) Causeway Road.
The Peak
--------
I. Road Closures/Traffic diversions
The following road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented between 7 pm on September 17 to 12.30 am on September 18 and from 7 pm on September 18 to 3 am on September 19:
(a) All uphill traffic along Peak Road, except for local residents or with permits, will be diverted downhill via the slip road beside the car park entrance at the Peak galleria; and
(b) Only vehicles with permits will be allowed to enter Lugard Road and Harlech Road while Mount Austin Road will be accessible for residents only.
Beach areas
-----------
Depending on crowd and traffic situation, the following traffic arrangements may be implemented on September 17, 18 and 19:
I. Road closure
(a) Public light buses will be prohibited from entering Beach Road from Repulse Bay Road;
(b) South Bay Road south of South Bay Close will be closed if its carparks are full, except residents and public transport;
(c) Stanley Beach Road will be closed if its carparks are full, except residents and public transport;
(d) Wong Ma Kok Path will be closed when the public parking spaces there are full, except residents;
(e) Big Wave Bay Road will be closed, except for public transport and residents;
(f) The road leading to Shek O Headland will be closed except residents; and
(g) The road leading to Shek O public carparks will be closed except residents and public transport.
II. Road Diversion
(a) Vehicles on eastbound Repulse Bay Road will not be permitted to make a ¡§U¡¨ turn at its junction with South Bay Road;
(b) Vehicles on Repulse Bay Road will be banned from entering The Repulse Bay car park if it is full; and
(c) When the car parks on South Bay Road are full, vehicles at Beach Road except for residents on South Bay Road, will be diverted to northbound South Bay Road and leave the area.
III. Suspension of parking spaces and taxi stands
(a) Fifteen parking spaces next to the covered walkway at Shek O Beach public carpark will be suspended from 3 pm on September 17 to 8 pm on September 19;
(b) The taxi stand on Repulse Bay Road opposite The Repulse Bay will be suspended from 4 pm on September 17 to 6 am on September 18 and from 4 pm on September 18 to 6 am on September 19;
(c) Between 4 pm on September 17 to 6 am on September 18 and from 4 pm on September 18 to 6 am on September 19, all metered and motorcycle parking spaces along Island Road will be suspended; and
(d) Between 4 pm on September 17 to 6 am on September 18 and from 4 pm on September 18 to 6 am on September 19, all metered and motorcycle parking spaces along Beach Road except disabled parking spaces will be suspended.
Police appeal to members of the public to exercise patience and to follow Police instructions at scene.
