Fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a man, aged about 70, was killed in Sham Shui Po today (September 12).

At 7.20 pm, a mud truck was traveling along the second lane of southbound Tung Chau Street and it stopped before a traffic light at the junction with Yen Chow Street. When the mud truck drove forward and left the junction, the man was found lying unconscious on the second lane of the road. The truck did not stop after the accident.

Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was certified dead at scene.

No identity document was found on the man. Standing about 1.6 metres, he is of thin build. He was wearing a light blue T-shirt, a deep blue overcoat, a pair of beige trousers, a pair of blue and white sports shoes.

Investigations by Special Investigation Team, Traffic, Kowloon West are underway.

Police are looking for a mud truck suspected to be involved in the case. Anyone who might have witnessed the accident or has information on the identity of the deceased or the driver of the mud truck is urged to contact the investigating officers on 2773 5220 or 2773 5262.
