Probe into death of man in Cheung Sha Wan

Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in Kam Shan Country Park, Cheung Sha Wan this (September 12) afternoon.

Shortly after 2 pm, in response to an odd smell complaint from a hiker, a 53-year-old man, staff member of the Agricultural, Fisheries and Conservation Department, found a man lying unconscious in the bushes beside a footpath leading to Piper¡¦s Hill near a barbeque site in Kam Shan Country Park. He then made a report to the Police.

The man with no identity document found on him was certified dead by ambulancemen at the scene.

The deceased, in the age of fifties, was of fat build. He was wearing a pair of blue canvas shoes and carrying a green canvas bag when found.

An eight-inch long fruit knife was found beside the deceased.

Initial examinations revealed that the deceased had died about one week. The post mortem of the deceased will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of his death.

Investigations by the District Crime Squad of Sham Shui Po are underway.

Police are appealing to members of the public who knows the identity of the deceased or has any information of the case to contact the investigation officers at 2746 3307.
