Six employers ordered to pay MPF non-payment

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 12) pursued six claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $63,000 on behalf of eight employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At today's hearing, two defendants, including Ho Shun Sun and Chow Wing Ban trading as Kwok Chai Hong, did not dispute the amounts claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $13,000.00 and $8,480.00, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other four defendants, Fortune Hill Engineering Limited, Royal Tech Enterprises Limited trading as Commander Restaurant & Bar, Boven International Limited and Decortex Limited, did not appear at today's hearing.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $14,970.12, $13,291.43, $8,829.98 and $5,310.98, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $60, $220, $280, $260, $460 and $300 as costs in respect of the claims.
