Disneyland
************************************************************

A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) reiterated today (September 9) that staff of the department were empowered under the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance to inspect food premises and take enforcement actions for any breaches of the law.

The remarks were made in response to media enquiries about a request made by staff of the Hong Kong Disneyland, asking two health inspectors not to wear their full uniform when conducting investigation into a suspected food poisoning case at a food premises at the theme park.

"We attach great importance to the incident and find the request unacceptable. We have contacted the management of the Hong Kong Disneyland and advised them the statutory role of our law enforcement officers."

"The department will in all circumstances exercise its powers as necessary for the protection of public health," the spokesman said.
