****************************************************

Police today (September 9) urge members of the public who has been blackmailed by triad members but have not made reports to the Police to come forward.

The appeal was made after a 23-year-old man was arrested by the Police for claiming to be a member of triad society and blackmail in Yau Ma Tei yesterday (September 8).

Officers of District Anti-Triad Section of Yau Tsim District took over the case for investigation. At about 10.45 pm on September 8, the 23-year-old man was arrested by ambushing officers when he visited the shop again. He is still being detained for enquiries.

Police appeal to anyone who has been blackmailed by triad members, in particular shop owners in Yau Ma Tei, but has not made any report to the Police to contact the investigating officers at 2731 7377.
