Employer ordered to pay MPF non-payment

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 5) pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $11,000 on behalf of an employee, who was owed MPF contributions by his employer.

     At today's hearing, the defendants, Yeung Yuk Lin & Yeung Choi Yu trading as Good Luck Food Centre, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sum of $11,357.78, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharge payable.

     The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payment of $140 as cost in respect of the claim.
