Updates on freshwater fish test results
*************************************** Results of 13 more samples of freshwater fish taken yesterday (September 1), including eight local and five imported ones, were available today (September 2).
Slight amount of malachite green was found on one imported sample, a spokesman for Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said.
The Government had notified the Mainland authorities of the test results and learnt that this batch of freshwater fish had undergone double sample inspection in the Mainland.
Due to the differences in methodology of sample taking and sample inspection on both sides, the Government understood there might be some differences in the test results. This situation might persist until the system of registered fish farms has been perfected.
As at today, the accumulative number of freshwater fish samples taken for testing of malachite green since August 20 was 140, with 16 samples were found to be positive.
