"Community Caring Days" at Hong Kong Disneyland
*********************************************** With the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland next month, tomorrow and Wednesday (August 30 and 31) will be designated as "Community Caring Days" for social service recipients to visit the theme park.
Hong Kong Disneyland has generously provided 20,000 complimentary admission tickets for the Community Caring Days. These tickets will be assigned to different categories of social service recipients. Priority will be given to children and families. Target groups include children and young people under the care and protection of the Social Welfare Department and non-government agencies, SARS-affected families, low-income and newly arrived families, single-parent families, families receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance, people with disabilities, etc. Helpers and volunteers to assist these groups during the outings will also be included. The Community Caring Days are co-organised by the Tourism Commission, Social Service Department and Home Affairs Department.
Glorious Sun Group and Maxim's Caterers Limited have kindly co-sponsored meals and a Disney-themed souvenir for each participant. The Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway Corporation has also offered free MTR rides for around 10,000 participants who prefer to use the train service to and from the park. Other participants will be taken by coach or rehabus service arranged by their respective service agencies. Parties organising the event would like to extend their gratitude to the sponsors for their generous support.
Since there will be other visitors in the park on each day of the event, a spokesman for the Tourism Commission has called on other park goers to be understanding as some of the disabled participants may need assistance and hence take longer to board and disembark from rides.
