Hongkong Post Rolled out e-Cert 'Use More Get More' Reward
Program to drive wider usage of e-Cert in the community
***********************************************************

Hongkong Post has introduced a new e-Cert "Use More Get More" Reward Program to encourage people to use e-Cert more often in various secure online services. In the process, e-Cert holders will earn fabulous gifts.

During the program period from today (August 29) to January 31, 2006, smart ID e-Cert holders and e-Cert (Personal) holders, may apply their e-Certs in using the online services of designated e-Cert merchant partners - member registration for example, web site login or online transactions, and join the e-Cert "Use More Get More" Reward Program to redeem shopping voucher, dining coupon or entries to an online lucky draw. This entails registering the e-Cert usage record through the registration hyperlink of the e-Cert merchant partners' websites. The more e-Cert usage is recorded, the higher the value of the prize to be redeemed. The detailed e-Cert usage and reward scheme is listed in Appendix I. In addition to gift redemptions, free smart card readers will also be given away to smart ID e-Cert holders, on a first-come-first-serve basis, to those who return to Hongkong Post a completed redemption form included in newspaper and magazine advertisements during the promotion period.

The program is fully supported by 18 e-Cert merchant partners offering a diverse range of online services including e-banking, e-shopping, online securities trading, e-government, online personal credit reports services, online auction and online travel services. Details are listed in Appendix II for reference.

Postmaster General Mr Allan Chiang said that with more than one million smart ID e-Cert holders registered, he was confident that the program would further boost public interest in using e-Cert for online transactions. "The value of the program is not just to induce more e-Cert holders to experience the convenience of using a multi-application e-Cert but also to promote the benefits e-Cert brings in terms of authenticity, confidentiality, data integrity and non-repudiation in e-commerce."

More details of the "Use More Get More" Reward Program can be obtained from the program's web site at http://www.e-Cert.gov.hk, or by calling the e-Cert service hotline 2921 6633.
