Extension of flag selling hours from September
********************************************** A spokesman for Social Welfare Department announced today (August 29) that with the endorsement of the Lotteries Fund Advisory Committee, charitable organisations would be allowed to sell flags from 7am to 12.30pm on their allocated Flag Days starting from September 2005.
The spokesman said that the original flag selling hours were from 8am to noon. The new time slot would give the organisations one and a half hours more on the Flag Days to facilitate deploying their resources to increase their street collection. The new arrangement has taken into account the feedback from the organisations that participated in the trial extension of flag selling hours in April, the views of other charitable organisations and the public reaction.
