Man arrested for trafficking in dangerous drugs

Police arrested a 46-year-old man for trafficking in dangerous drugs following the seizure of over $1.7 million worth of suspected ketamine in Sham Shui Po today (August 28).

Following extensive investigations, officers of the Narcotics Bureau mounted an anti-dangerous drugs operation at Poplar Street this morning.

The operation turned overt at about 12.30 pm when police officers intercepted the man who was leaving a flat on Poplar Street. A nylon bag containing about 5.26 kilograms of suspected ketamine which was packed inside a tinfoil bag was found in his possession.

A subsequent search in the flat led to the seizure of some other tinfoil bags and some packing paraphernalia.

The haul could fetch over $1.7 million in the retail market.

The man was arrested for trafficking in dangerous drugs and is still being detained for enquiries.
