Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee members appointed

    The Government today (August 26) announced the appointment of eight members to the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee for a two-year term with effect from October 1 this year.

     The list of committee members is as follows:

(1) Miss Choi Wai-kam, Virginia
     - Human Resources Consultant

(2) Miss Ko Kit-ying, Patra
     - Solicitor

(3) Mr Ko Kwong-woon, Ivan
     - Managing Director of an investment bank

(4) Mr Lo Wing-hung
     - Chief Executive Officer of a newspaper group

(5) Ms Elizabeth Quat
     - President and co-founder of an internet association

(6) Mr Tam Kwok-kiu, Edwin
     - Managing Director of an information and technology services company

(7) Mr Yip Kin-man, Raymond
     - Partner of a legal firm

(8) Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs or Principal Assistant Secretary for Home Affairs

     The Advisory Committee, which is established under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, is chaired by the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Mr Roderick Woo.

    "Based on their knowledge and experience in their respective fields, the committee members will advise the Privacy Commissioner on any matter relevant to the privacy of individuals in relation to personal data and other matters relevant to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance," a government spokesman said.

    The appointment notice is gazetted today.
