The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yau Ma Tei to suspend business for 14 days after repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The restaurant at Ground Floor, 184A Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei, was ordered to suspend business from today (August 22) to September 4.
A Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said the licensee of the restaurant was convicted in May and December last year for preparing food in an open space.
"He was fined a total of $4,500 and 15 demerit points were also registered against him under the department's demerit points system, resulting in the suspension of his licence for seven days from March 7 to 13 this year," the spokesman said.
"In June this year, he was convicted twice for unauthorised extension of food business outside the licensed area. He was fined a total of $7,000 for the two convictions. A further 30 demerit points were registered, leading to the 14-day suspension this time."
The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to strictly comply with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences may be suspended or even cancelled.
