A new King's Road Post Office

*****************************

A new King's Road Post Office will open on Tuesday (May 3) to replace the existing post office at 275-283 King's Road, North Point.

Located at Shops 204-205A and 208-210, 2/F, Olympia Plaza, 255 King's Road, North Point, the new post office will operate from 9.30am to 5pm on weekdays, and from 9.30am to 1pm on Saturdays.

"The existing King's Road Post Office has been faithfully serving customers in the district for more than 40 years," Postmaster General Mr Allan Chiang said.

"In an effort to modernise and upgrade our facilities for the benefit of our customers, we will reprovision the office to new accommodation.  Situated in a commercial building at the heart of North Point, the new office is just one minute's walk from the existing office, offering no less convenience to customers in the area.  The new office will also take on a new design, providing added comfort to customers," Mr Chiang said.

A $2 souvenir cover will be issued to commemorate the opening of the new office.  It will be put on sale at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Sha Tin Central Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office, Tuen Mun Central Post Office and King's Road Post Office from April 25 to May 3.

A special hand-back service will also be provided at the new office on May 3, whereby official and privately made unregistered covers with full postage prepaid and bearing a "First Day" indication and a local address will be accepted and impressed with the normal post office datestamp at the counter and handed back to customers.

For the convenience of philatelists, the normal office datestamp of the King's Road Post Office will be reproduced for the provision of hand-back service at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Sha Tin Central Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Tuen Mun Central Post Office on May 3.

Ends/Sunday, April 24, 2005
