    "As the first day of January and National Day in 2006 both fall on a Sunday, the days following will be designated as the additional general holidays," a government spokesman said.  

    "In addition, the day preceding Lunar New Year's day will be designated as an additional general holiday as the Lunar New Year's Day in 2006 falls on a Sunday," the spokesman said.
