The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 12) pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $52,000 on behalf of six employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At today's hearing, Green House & Spa Limited did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered the company to pay the MPFA the sum of $32,549.79, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The other defendants - Wanchai Bierkeller Limited and Victor Chak Hoi Cheong trading as Planner Company - did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $15,128.22 and $5,090.12 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Court further awarded payments of $200, $100 and $90 as costs in respect of the claims.
