Police are investigating a murder in which a female body was found in a hostel in Mong Kok this morning (April 12).
The case came to light when a 42-year-old woman, who is a staff member at the hostel at No. 58 Mong Kok Road, reported for duty at about 8 am. She noticed some money was missing from the cashier counter and she was unable to locate her colleague who was on night shift last night. A report was then made to the Police.
Police officers arrived at the scene and opened unoccupied rooms. A 51-year-old woman, who was the night-duty staff, was found lying unconscious on the floor inside one of the rooms. Her mouth and nose were sealed with adhensive tape while her hands and feet were tied up with straps. She was certified dead at the scene.
Initial investigation revealed that the woman died of suffocation. A post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow (April 13) to ascertain the cause of death.
Investigations by District Crime Squad of Mong Kok are proceeding.
