The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (January 21) pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $70,000 on behalf of three employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The defendants, namely, Hong Kong Geology & Construction Engineering Company Limited, Lam Chun Hung trading as Hung Lee Restaurant and On Glory Enterprises Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $34,697.48, $30,028.18 and $6,142.50 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $420, $250 and $100 as costs in respect of the claims.
