Peng Chau sewage treatment works to be upgraded

***********************************************

The Government intends to carry out excavation work and construct two submarine outfalls on Tai Lei Island off Peng Chau.

The proposed works form part of the Outlying Islands sewerage project which aims to increase the existing treatment capacity of the Peng Chau Sewage Treatment Works.

The works, which will affect about 6,120 square metres of foreshore and sea bed area, are scheduled to begin in early 2005 for completion by early 2008.

The extent of the area affected is described in a notice published in the Government Gazette today (June 18).

Any person who considers that he has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea bed involved may send a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20th Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road on or before August 18, 2004.

The notice together with a related plan can be seen on notice boards posted near the site. The plan can also be seen at the Lands Department's Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd Floor, North Point Government Offices and at the Islands District Office, 20th Floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central.
