A government spokesman announced today (May 28) the appointment of Miss Patra Ko Kit-ying to the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee to succeed Mr Wudy Heung Cheuk-wu who resigned last month.
"We are happy that Miss Ko has accepted the appointment which will take effect from June 1, 2004 and end on September 30, 2005," the spokesman said.
"The Advisory Committee is chaired by the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Mr Raymond Tang. It is established under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
"Including Miss Ko, the committee will consist of eight members. Based on their knowledge and experience in their respective fields, the members will advise the Privacy Commissioner on any matter relevant to the privacy of individuals in relation to personal data and other matters relevant to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance," the spokesman added.
The appointment notice is gazetted today.
