A three-month holiday bazaar, the Sheung Wan Promenade, will be launched near Western Market in Sheung Wan on general holidays from Sunday (October 12) to promote tourism and the local community economy.
The promenade will operate from 11.30am to 5.30pm on Sundays (except November 23) and public holidays during the period until January 18, 2004 at the pedestrianised section of Morrison Street and Wing Lok Street. During that time, carnivals on different themes such as fight crime, civic education, fire safety and dried seafood and Chinese medicine will be staged.
There will also be stalls selling a variety of hand-made arts and crafts items and nostalgic Chinese snacks.
At the same time, cultural and variety programmes, including acrobatic performances, magic shows, dances and musical performances will be presented for the public.
The project is organised by the Organising Committee of the Sheung Wan Promenade and the Central and Western District Office.
Enquiries on the bazaar can be made to the Central and Western District Office on 2852 3464.
Ends/Friday, October 10, 2003 NNNN
