Hong Kong Planning Standards and Guidelines revised

***************************************************

Chapter 2 of the Hong Kong Planning Standards and Guidelines (HKPSG) on "Residential Densities" has been revised, the Planning Department announced today (October 10).

The revision was made to reflect the deletion of the two-tier plot ratio control previously imposed for residential zones on the Kowloon Outline Zoning Plans as recommended by the Kowloon Density Study Review.

In general, a maximum domestic plot ratio of 7.5 will apply to the "Residential (Group A)" and "Residential (Group E)" zones in Kowloon irrespective of site size and parking provisions.

The HKPSG, which sets out the criteria for determining the scale, location and site requirements of various land uses, is applied in planning studies, preparation and revision of town plans and development control.

The revised chapter can be seen at the Planning Department's website at http://www.info.gov.hk/planning/.

Ends/Friday, October 10, 2003
