The Government announced today (October 6) that Mrs Li Li Ka-lai, Lucia, will succeed Mr Shum Man-to as Director of Accounting Services with effect from October 7 when Mr Shum proceeds on pre-retirement leave on the same day.
Commenting on Mrs Li's appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Joseph W P Wong said: "Mrs Li has proven administrative abilities, sound professional skills and solid experience in the work of the Treasury. I am confident that Mrs Li will lead the department to further enhance the provision of professional and quality service to the public."
Mr Wong also thanked Mr Shum for his 25 years of loyal and dedicated service. He said: "Under Mr Shum's leadership, the Treasury has undergone major administrative and organisational reforms to achieve the best value for money in government expenditure while maintaining and improving the quality of public service. I wish him a happy retirement."

Mr Shum Man-to, SBS, JP -----------------------
Mr Shum, aged 54, first joined the Government as a Treasury Accountant in November 1978. He rose through the ranks to Senior Treasury Accountant in October 1984, to Chief Treasury Accountant in June 1987, to Assistant Director of Accounting Services in July 1991, and to Deputy Director of Accounting Services in June 1995. He was promoted to Director of Accounting Services in February 1999.
Mrs Li Li Ka-lai, Lucia, JP ---------------------------
Mrs Li, aged 49, first joined the Government as an Accounting Officer II in December 1976. She was appointed as a Treasury Accountant in April 1980. She was promoted to Senior Treasury Accountant in July 1985, to Chief Treasury Accountant in December 1989, to Assistant Director of Accounting Services in June 1994 and to Deputy Director of Accounting Services in June 2001.
