Anti-crime operation against triad activities

Police arrested 34 persons in an anti-crime operation commenced early this (September 14) morning.

The aim of the operation is to curb down triad related illicit activities and to tackle their financial sources.

Following extensive investigations, officers attached to Organised Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) raided a number of premises including karaoke clubs and pirated video computer discs (VCD) manufacturing centre in Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po, Shatin, and Tuen Mun this morning.

During the operation, OCTB officers arrested 31 men and three women. The arrested persons, most of them are triad affiliated, are aged between 15 and 44.

Police also seized about 100,000 suspected obscene and pirated VCDs, 36 professional CD-writers, and 12 computer monitors.

The operation is still continuing and more information will be released when available.
