The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 8) pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal, totaling some $18,000 on behalf of three employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

The defendants were Powah (Pang's) Engineering Company Limited, Just Lighting Company Limited and Cindy Styles International Limited.

The above defendants did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sum of $15,681.50, $1,491.72 and $1,194.17 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the relevant employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. Amounts of $230, $230 and $120 were also awarded respectively as costs in respect of the claims.
