Hongkong Post Rolls Out "PostalPlus for SME" to Enhance Competitiveness of SMEs
********************************************************

Hongkong Post today (September 4) announced the official launch of the "Postal Plus for SME" programme to provide one-stop and cost-efficient solutions to address the needs of 300,000 plus small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Hong Kong for support in postal services, logistics, direct marketing and e-Commerce.

This afternoon at the Regal Hongkong Hotel, Postmaster General, Mr Allan Chiang, was joined by Chairman of Small and Medium Enterprises Committee (SMEC), Mr Chan Wing-kee, to officiate at a launch ceremony.  As the highlight of the ceremony, Mr Chiang and Mr Chan together affixed on the backdrop the 'PostalPlus for SME' logo to symbolise the commencement of the offer of a range of value-added services for SMEs.  In addition, representatives of various SME associations, trade associations and service organisations have shown full support for the programme by joining at the ceremony a champagne toast to the success of the programme.

Faced with a fast-changing business environment and intense market competition, SMEs always need to tackle many business challenges with limited resources and support, in particular the containing of operational costs while at the same time exploring new ways to be more cost effective to promote their products and services.  To help Hong Kong's SMEs overcome business challenges and enhance their competitive advantage, Hongkong Post rolls out the "PostalPlus for SME" programme to provide support, information and cost-efficient solutions to address their business needs related to direct marketing and customer order fulfillment.

More importantly, all SMEs in Hong Kong can register from now on as members of PostalPlus for SME free of charge. Upon registration, PostalPlus members will receive a welcome offer package from Hongkong Post. This welcome offer package consists of an array of benefits exclusive for members, including a welcome gift, free trial of premium time certain Speedpost service, discount for Hongkong Post Circular service, and waivers of registration/administration charges and minimum weight requirements for selected Hongkong Post services.  In addition to the welcome offer, PostalPlus members will regularly enjoy privilege offers for a bundle of postal services tailor-made for them.

PostalPlus members will also receive regular update of information about Hongkong Post services or market trends through newsletters or seminars.  Furthermore, Hongkong Post will line up other business partners or service providers of SMEs to develop special service packages for members.

"The roll-out of PostalPlus for SME demonstrates our unrelenting effort in creating innovative products and services to meet customers' demands.  We believe that our comprehensive range of value-for-money services will definitely be a good source of support to strengthen the competitive edge of the SMEs in Hong Kong.  By leveraging our core competency and infrastructure, SMEs can concentrate on developing their market niche at minimum investment costs," said Mr Chiang.

"The SMEC is pleased to see this new initiative of Hongkong Post to provide focused support and one-stop postal and logistics solution to SMEs for enhancing their business operations and competitiveness," said Mr Chan.

"We appreciate the full support from the SME and trade associations for the PostalPlus programme. It is our vision to expand our one-stop postal services platform to include a diversity of other services. Service providers of other industries eg banks, IT, telecommunication, etc. who also have focused support for the development of SMEs in Hong Kong will be invited to join the one-stop service platform. We will team up with these potential business partners to create new benefits and offers for our members so that they can reap the best value from the programme," Mr Chiang added.
