Appeal for information on traffic accident in Lok Ma Chau

*********************************************************

Police appeal to members of the public to provide information on a traffic accident in Lok Ma Chau this (September 3) afternoon in which eight persons were injured.

Shortly after 1 pm, a public light bus (PLB) was travelling along the third lane of Fanling Highway towards Yuen Long. It reportedly swerved to the nearside so as to avoid hitting a bus originally travelling behind and allegedly drove from the second lane into the third lane near Pak Shek Au.

The PLB then lost control and rammed against two medium goods vehicles nearby.

After the impact, the driver of the PLB, a 43-year-old man, and seven passengers comprising five men and two women, aged from 40 to 50, were injured. They were taken to North District Hospital, Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and Price of Wales Hospital respectively for medical treatment.

Investigations by the Accident Investigation Team of Traffic New Territories North are underway.

Anyone who might have witnessed the accident or the passengers on board the bus is urged to contact the report room of Traffic New Territories North at 2675 3325.
