The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 3) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal, totaling some $5,400 on behalf of two employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The defendants, Mo Chor Chu Sonia trading as Shun Fat Electrical & Metal Company and Ching Sun Chuen trading as Sam Tong International Company, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sum of $4,420.51 and $1,037.33 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the relevant employees' MPF account as soon as they are received by the MPFA. Amounts of $260 and $220 were also awarded respectively as costs in respect of the claims.
Meanwhile, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) yesterday (September 2) pursued a claim in the Small Claims Tribunal, totaling some $29,000 on behalf of three employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The defendant, Multimedia Education & Publishing Limited, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $29,323.14, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The defendant pleaded guilty at Kwun Tong Magistracy earlier to two charges of failing to make MPF contributions on time, having made deductions from the income of an employee, and fined a total of $6,000.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the relevant employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. Amount of $440 was also awarded respectively as costs in respect of the claims.
