S for S visits Government Flying Service and Hong Kong Police Force

********************************************************

The Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, praised the dedication and professionalism of the Government Flying Service (GFS) and the Hong Kong Police Force when he visited both disciplined forces today (September 3).

During his visit to the GFS, Mr Lee was briefed by the Controller of GFS, Captain Brian Butt, on the operation of the department and saw for himself the aircraft at its headquarters.

Mr Lee also expressed his deep regrets over the loss of two GFS crew members in a helicopter crash incident while performing their duties last month.

He said, "Their devotion and professionalism deserved the respect of the entire community. I am sure the GFS crew members will continue to provide their excellent service in carrying out search and rescue operations."

The Secretary for Security visited the Police headquarters later in the afternoon and was received by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Tsang Yam-pui, and other senior Police officers. Mr Lee was briefed on a number of issues including the crime situation and staffing of the Force.

"I am impressed with the professionalism and efficiency of our Police Force in making Hong Kong one of the safest cities in the world. I am confident that they will maintain their high standard of service in upholding the law and order of this wonderful city," Mr Lee said.

Mr Lee also met with representatives of the staff associations of both departments and listened to their views on a number of issues.
