The Chief Executive announced in June that the Government would allocate $715 million to create 32,050 short-term jobs and training vacancies to ease the unemployment situation. These included seven short-term employment and training projects for young people, providing more than 8,000 six-month training vacancies with a monthly salary of $4,000. Training projects cover various sectors in tourism, leisure and sports, cultural activities, the arts, nature appreciation and community care. Recruitment work for most of these vacancies has been completed and successful candidates will report for duty later this month or next month.
