The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Kwun Tong to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The restaurant, situated at ground floor of No. 361, Ngau Tau Kok Road, Kwun Tong, was ordered to suspend business for 14 days, starting today (August 25).
A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department explained: "In April 2001 and 2002, the licensee was convicted separately of unauthorized extension of food business and unauthorized food preparation at shop front. He was fined a total of $4,000. A total of 15 demerit points were also registered against him under the department's Demerit Points System, resulting in the suspension of his restaurant licence for seven days between July 11 and 17 last year.
"However, the licensee failed to rectify the irregularities. In March and June this year, he was convicted twice of unauthorized food preparation at shop front. Subsequently, he was fined a total of $7,000. A further 15 demerit points were registered which led to the 14-day suspension this time."
The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to strictly abide by the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance and its related regulations, or else they might have their licences suspended or even cancelled.
