SCIT to attend "Fujian - Hong Kong Week"

The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr John Tsang, will depart for Fuzhou, Fujian Province tomorrow (August 21) to attend the "Fujian - Hong Kong Week". This will be his first duty visit since he took up the post in early August.

The "Fujian - Hong Kong Week" is jointly organised by the HKSAR Government and the People's Government of Fujian Province. Mr Tsang will lead a business delegation comprising representatives from major chambers of commerce and trade organisations to take part in the business seminars, forums and visits to be held during the promotion week.

Participating chambers and trade organisations include the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the Hong Kong Promotion Association for SME, Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises Association, the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Ltd, the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.

During his stay in Fuzhou, Mr Tsang will attend the grand opening ceremony of the Fujian - HK Week on August 25. He will address three seminars on Fujian - HK business and trade relations on August 22, on business supporting services as well as on Hong Kong's investment environment on August 25.

Mr Tsang will also take the opportunity to meet with senior Fujian provincial government officials and representatives of the trade association.

During the week, Mr Tsang will lead the business delegation to visit Quanzhou and Xiamen on August 23 and 24 to see for themselves the trade and industry development there and call on government officials of the two places.

He will return to Hong Kong on August 26 (Tuesday).
