The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Mong Kok to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The restaurant, situated at Shop No. A and B on the ground floor of Hung Cheung Building, 1-3 Yin Chong Street, Mong Kok, was ordered to suspend business for 14 days, starting today (August 12).
A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department explained: "In March 2002, the licensee was convicted separately of food preparation in open space and unauthorised extension of food business. He was fined a total of $2,600. A total of 15 demerit points were also registered against him under the department's Demerit Points System, resulting in the suspension of his restaurant licence for seven days between June 19 and 25 last year.
"However, the licensee failed to rectify the irregularities. In August last year, he was convicted of exposure of open food while in April and May this year, he was convicted twice of food preparation in open space. Subsequently, he was fined a total of $4,000. A further 20 demerit points were registered which led to the 14-day suspension this time."
The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to strictly abide by the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance and its related regulations, or else they might have their licences suspended or even cancelled.
