In response to media enquiries about the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge project, a spokesman for the Chief Executive's Office said today (August 5): "The State Council has approved a report by the Integrated Transport Policy Research Institute under the National Development and Reform Commission, and has agreed on the commencement of preparatory work for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.

"It has also agreed on the establishment of a Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Preparatory Work Co-ordination Group comprising representatives from Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong to commence preparatory work. The co-ordination group will be convened by Hong Kong. The costs of the preparatory work will be borne equally by the three sides."
