The Government today (July 21) announced that as the majority shareholder of the MTR Corporation Limited, the Financial Secretary Incorporated has appointed Dr Raymond Ch'ien Kuo Fung as the Chairman of that company to replace Mr Jack So Chak Kwong.

The appointment of Dr Ch'ien is effective on July 21, 2003 for a term of three years. Dr Ch'ien has been a member of the Board of MTR Corporation Limited and Mass Transit Railway Corporation since 1998.
