The Labour Department and Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) will jointly organise a two-day Youth Career Expo at Plaza Hollywood in Diamond Hill starting from this Tuesday (July 15). The expo will provide young people aged between 15 and 24 with the latest information on employment and training, help them in career planning and work experience enrichment.
The expo will display details of the seven short-term employment and training projects for young people announced by the Chief Executive last month. The Government has allocated $260 million to provide more than 8 000 training vacancies. Most of them will have a monthly salary of $4 000 and last for six months.
These diversified projects are tailor-made for young people by the Labour Department in conjunction with government departments and non-governmental organisations.
Details of the projects are as follow:
Project & Content Vacancies There will also be information on the department's Youth Pre-employment Training Programme and Youth Work Experience and Training Scheme which will be open for application from July 26. Talks will be held concurrently to brief participants on these programmes. Self-employment and entrepreneurship projects launched by HKFYG will also be displayed.
There will speakers to share their experience with participants on such topics as job-seeking techniques, latest trend in human resources market, creative industries and working in the Mainland.
A booth will be set up by HKFYG to provide on-the-spot counseling to young people and help them plan their career.
The expo will be held at the Stars Atrium, 1/F, Plaza Hollywood, Diamond Hill, from 12 pm (noon) to 7 pm on July 15 and from 10 am to 7 pm on July 16. Admission is free.
Application forms of the seven employment and training projects are available at the expo for submission on site. These can also be obtained from July 15 to 18 at all job centres and the website (http://www.labour.gov.hk/news/content.htm)of the Labour Department. Completed forms should be returned to job centres on or before July 18.
